Skiing for New Year

in Åre

If you’re looking for a holiday destination that provides fantastic skiing and a vivacious atmosphere for New Year’s Eve then you should join skiSweden in Åre this December.

Ski in Åre with skiSweden

Åre is a fantastic ski resort in the heart of Sweden. The skiing is fabulous, and makes up one of the largest ski areas in the country, but it is the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere of Åre Village and the tranquil atmosphere of linked Åre Bjornen that have brought renown to this lovely ski area.

Most of the accommodation is in the original town at the base of the valley, and this organic setup means there is a fantastic selection of bustling hotels, apartments, restaurants and bars – the latter offering great après ski and a fun atmosphere – all within strolling distance to the nearest lift. Bjornen is linked by the ski area and free ski bus giving a choice of accessing the towns vibrant centre or relaxing in the peaceful quiet of Bjornen's pristine fells.

Optional Activities

Husky sledding

Husky sledding is an iconic part of Scandinavian culture and is a great way to experience the stunning scenery from a different perspective. Husky sledding adventures are available in both Åre and Sälen, so speak to your skiSweden expert for more information and to book.

Snowmobiling

A guided snowmobiling trip is a safe and fun activity for the whole family. If you have a UK driving license you can drive a snowmobile through the clearly marked tracks in the areas around the resorts. Snowmobiles seat 2, so non-drivers can take the rear seat, and there’s usually a space behind the guide if you’ve got uneven numbers.

Cross-country skiing

Another iconic Scandinavian pastime is cross-country skiing, and it really is an enjoyable way to immerse yourself in the local nature and culture. Lessons and equipment hire are widely available in advance and in resort, so contact your skiSweden expert for more information.
