Glamping beneath the Northern Lights

Glamp under the aurora in Swedish Lapland

If you’re in search of a unique holiday experience that captures the essence of the peace and tranquillity of Lapland alongside fantastic opportunities for seeing the Northern Lights, then our Glamping beneath the Northern Lights holiday is ideal.

A Unique Holiday in Lapland

Once you’ve flown direct to Kiruna in Swedish Lapland, your 3 night holiday starts with a night of relaxation in the Camp Ripan hotel, where you’ll have a chance to indulge in the Aurora spa or enjoy some of the in-house activities on offer. You’ll then take the train an hour south of Kiruna to spend 2 nights in the incredible Sapmi Nature Camp on the border of the Laponia World Heritage Area. This wilderness glamping camp is run by a local Sami family and the intimate, traditional style camp is intended to be an immersive experience that gives you a taste of the true Lapland.

Glamping in Lapland

You’ll camp in the snow draped forest in comfortable but basic Lavvu (tepee style tents), warmed by log fires and cosy reindeer furs. There are just 5 tents, each sleeping 2 people, so this is a really intimate experience and is a fantastic way to escape the business of everyday life. Over the following days you can try traditional forest skiing and snowshoeing on tranquil trails. There are a small selection of authentic activities available, and there will be a local Sami guide at the camp who will inform you about the traditional Sami way of life, which revolved around reindeer herding.

Hunt the Northern Lights

Each evening you’ll have an unrivalled chance to see the Northern Lights thanks to the pristine skies of your remote camp. There is also an Aurora photography workshop available with guidance on how to photograph the Northern Lights and Lapland’s other winter wonders.
