Half Term Family Skiing

in Åre

This February Half Term, leave the busy slopes of southern Europe behind and join skiSweden for a fantastic ski holiday with quiet slopes, friendly ski instructors and much more. A skiSweden Half Term holiday in Åre is about skiing and more, with loads to do on and off the slopes, from relaxing in a traditional sauna or spa, to exploring beyond the ski slopes with a team of huskies. The snow-capped hills of Sweden are at your fingertips and at skiSweden we can help you make the most of your holiday. There are two main accommodation areas with access to skiing across Åre resort, and our skiSweden experts will be more than happy to help you choose.

Ski in Åre Village

The historic town of Åre is renowned as a fun and vibrant destination with a great selection of hotels, apartments, restaurants and bars all within strolling distance of the bottom of the slopes. The resort is renowned for its après ski, and the ski school meeting point is just above the village centre, so we recommend the area for couples, older families and groups who have skied before.

Ski in Åre Bjornen

The Bjornen cabin area has a more relaxed atmosphere than the village. Here you’ll find a selection of cosy cabins and apartments plus the luxury Copperhill Mountain Lodge. Most of the accommodation is in view of the slopes and is well located for ski school and the area's fantastic beginner slopes, while Åre Village and amenities are easy to reach on the free ski bus. We suggest Bjornen for couples, groups and families of all ages looking for a relaxed atmosphere, and the area is great for beginners.

Optional Activities

Husky sledding

Husky sledding is an iconic part of Scandinavian culture and is a great way to experience the stunning scenery from a different perspective. Husky sledding adventures are available in both Åre and Sälen, so speak to your skiSweden expert for more information and to book.

A guided snowmobiling trip is a safe and fun activity for the whole family. If you have a UK driving license you can drive a snowmobile through the clearly marked tracks in the areas around the resorts. Snowmobiles seat 2, so non-drivers can take the rear seat, and there’s usually a space behind the guide if you’ve got uneven numbers.

Cross-country skiing

Another iconic Scandinavian pastime is cross-country skiing, and it really is an enjoyable way to immerse yourself in the local nature and culture. Lessons and equipment hire are widely available in advance and in resort, so contact your skiSweden expert for more information.
