Åre Björnen

Part of the larger Åre ski area, Björnen has a real focus on families with wide open runs and a host of on and off slope activities designed around your littlest VIPs. The rest of the ski area is easily accessible via the lift system and a local bus meaning that there is plenty of room for improving snow enthusiasts to test their skills.

There are a selection of shops and restaurants in the area, or Åre village is a short bus ride away and offers even more choice.

The right slopes for me?


Excellent: Björnen’s children’s area is the largest in Åre with loads of choice and plenty of space to improve and practice your technique.


Excellent: With easy access to the vast Åre ski area, intermediate skiers will have plenty to choose from across the mountain.


Good: There are a varied selection of advanced slopes for those looking for a challenge including world cup slopes and a selection of terrain parks.

Cross country

Good: There is over 500km of marked and maintained cross-country trails throughout the resorts of Åre and the surrounding area. If you are new to the sport there is also an excellent ski school for those who want to try something different.


Good: Åre's largest park, the 'Åre Snow Park', is located near Åre Village and has a range of intermediate and advanced jumps as well as rails, a half-pipe and a snowcross track. Throught the resort there are 6 other terrain parks with kickers, boxes and rails ranging from beginners to more advanced lines.

Après ski & eating out

Hotel bars generally have a good atmosphere while the other resort bars tends to be more lively at the weekends and during the local holidays. There are a good choice of restaurants spread across the resorts from a la carte dining to relaxed cafés.
